Chapter 37: Falthrien Academy
EndlessFantasy Translation
Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation
In the history of the High Elves, the core area of the Sun Tower was not the novice village. Instead, it was the place where Li Yao and his squad were headed to today, which was also where the livestream stage clearance contest was held. It was the side stage for groups, the Falthrien Academy.
It was the area for group stages, and the stages were a few levels higher than the average level of a player.
Falthrien Academy was once the cradle of magic cultivation. High Elves who aspired to become wizards were sent here to begin their study of magic and increase their magical knowledge.
Over the course of thousands of years, the magical academy had produced a vast population of excellent wizards. As these wizards slowly matured, they became the rulers of the kingdom.
Falthrien Academy flourished, but it was not spared from that inevitable disaster.
Other than being a magical academy, Falthrien Academy was also a vital passage for the Sunwell to channel its magical energy to the Silvermoon City. When there was a magic addiction outbreak, Falthrien Academy became a hell on Earth.
Only a handful of High Elves escaped the academy. Later, the place became a forbidden area for the High Elves. As the kingdom slowly fell apart, they had yet sent in people to clean up the place until now.
Although it was an academy, it was actually more like a small city. Moreover, it had a spectacular view and was a magnificent floating city.
In this livestream contest, their goal was to clear out the stage which was located in the city’s most deserted area—the doorway. The area occupied a very small part of the city and nothing more.
The mobs around the area were Level 5 to 6 Elites, while the Boss was Level 7.
The city resembled a skyscraper, it had two humongous spiral corridors that winded upward, linking platforms that were suspended in mid-air next to the building. It was a miraculous sight.
On the left side of the city was a large lake that looked like a pearl, and on the right side was a lush green meadow. On the ground, there were a variety of faunas and unnamed wildflowers, filling the air with faint, sweet floral fragrances.
From a distance, the place looked like a magical wonderland. Since the livestream yesterday, the picturesque scenery and towering city had captured the hearts of countless spectators.
Other than the two spiral corridors linking the city to the ground from the left and right, there was no other support. The city looked as if it was built on the clouds.
“Wow, that looks beautiful!” AdorkableTong’s face lit up with excitement when she saw the white clouds in the sky merged with the city.
Li Yao gave her a pat on the head. “The person that you recruited, is he reliable? Let me remind you again, his job is to help us pick up the loot.”
“Chill, chill.” Tong replied smugly. “He’s the little brother that I took in. He is very obedient and if he dares, hehe, in any case, you don’t have to worry so much Big Bro. He wouldn’t dare to do anything that he shouldn’t do.”
Li Yao was still feeling uneasy. “Then did you tell him that he can have his fair share of the bounty? Once we get to the later stages, he wouldn’t be able to gain any Exp points.”
“Told him, told him. Big Bro, you are more naggy than my sister-in-law. Are you a middle-aged woman?” Tong’s once happy mood was swept away, and her face was sullen. “If you don’t believe me, you can find other people yourself. I’ll tell him to go back.”
“Okay, okay. My bad.” Li Yao hurriedly console her. This time, his goal was to gain more Exp points and obtain the Creator’s item. It did not matter to him if the loot was gone.
When they were nearing the place, the silent Witch suddenly spoke, “Li Yao, there is something I have to tell you.”
“Hmm? I’m listening.” Li Yao answered casually. Then, he realized that she called him using his real name instead of his in-game name. He glanced at HundredFaceWitch. “You know me?”
AdorkableTong immediately calmed herself down and pricked up her ears. She was curious.
“We’ve been together for two years, who do you think I am?” Witch took a deep breath to keep her expressions calm. Her voice had turned into a voice that Li Yao was familiar with.
“Fengyi, it’s you.” Li Yao gave her a strange look. He never thought he would run into her in the game, and they had become friends.
It was impossible that HundredFaceWitch had this planned out all along. Besides, she was a journalist and could use her other identity. HundredFaceWitch was her second identity in the game.
Summer was her name as a commentator. She was very famous and had a wide fanbase. If she were to use her in-game name, she would be asking for trouble.
The atmosphere between the two instantly changed. Tong looked at the two of them and felt that something was not right. “So, it turns out that Big Bro’s name is Li Yao, and Witch Sis is called Fengyi. The two of you were together for two years, does that mean you were a couple?”
“I’m really surprised.” Li Yao said with a smile.
“How could you not be surprised?” Witch laughed bitterly, “I found out when I returned from the party. I don’t want to hide it from you since you’re going to team up with me. You should know, I’m going live today and I’m using a different identity.”
Li Yao nodded indistinctly, “Why not, is this your first time going live?”
Li Yao did not know how to feel at that moment and agreed while he was still spacing out. There was no way he could deny that fate had brought them back together. Among the sea of people, they were assigned into the same novice village, had bumped into each other and became friends again. The wonders of fate laid in this.
Summer was a nationwide famous commentator and had never revealed her face. Rumours circulated amongst people that Summer was a Sweet Demon Lady because she had a sweet voice and looked ugly in person. They assumed that was the reason why she never showed her face. This issue had started several keyboard wars amongst fans in the forum.
But in actuality, the matter was due to Summer’s family and Li Yao’s possessive nature, leaning more to the former. That was why Summer never showed her face.
When she entered the game, her looks would change. Even if her real face was revealed, her in-game identity would not be exposed. Besides, the pressure was starting to build up on the new game. If she did not go live or appear in public, her journey toward fame would be sealed dead. There was no way she could cover up face while giving a commentary on an official match.
Because of that, she had lost opportunities before, but now she no longer wanted to suffer any further losses.
“The, the great Liao Yuan master, you should be prepared to be interviewed by my fans and I.” Qin Fengyi smiled brightly. Her name had changed in the squad’s information panel.
“The pleasure is all mine,” Li Yao also flashed a bright smile. He felt as though they were back in the old days when he helped Summer to find commentary materials, type out materials and helped her to dub in background during her commentaries.
“Hey hey hey, this isn’t right. How is it that Witch Sis also has two identities? Both of you are too much.” Tong had her eyes opened wide as she glared at HundredFaceWitch. When she saw that her name had changed to Summer, her eyes almost fell out.
“Summer, Summer! Ah! Are you my favorite narrator, Summer Sis?” Tong looked at Qin Fengyi excitedly. “Right, right! No one else can use the name Summer as a game name. My gosh, it really is Summer Sis!”
“I didn’t expect Tong to be a huge fan of yours.” Li Yao smiled.
“Ah…” Tong rubbed her eyes and pointed at Li Yao. “You’re Summer Sis’s boyfriend! I, I, I found a huge secret! You better beg me now, or else I will expose you in the internet. Those male fans that’re obsessed with Summer Sis will definitely tear you into pieces!”
Li Yao flicked her forehead with his fingers and laughed. “Alright, stop messing around now. We’ve reached the place, and this must be your junior.”
“Yes, this is my junior!” Tong lowered her hand that she used to cover her forehead. She gave a serious cough, “Ahem, LilShadow, come here quick! Introduce yourself.”
“I’m coming, I’m coming.” A small-sized young man smiled as he ran toward Tong. His eyes lit up when he saw Li Yao. “It really is the great Liao Yuan god! I’m your fan, my name is ShadowDancer, you can just call me LilShadow.”
Pfft…
“Ahem, what did you say your name was?” Li Yao almost choked on air.
“ShadowDancer.” The youngster scratched his head and was at a loss for words.
“Ah, join the team first,” Li Yao said clumsily.
In his previous life, ShadowDancer was a prominent character amongst players. He could be described as legendary and was said to have come from the slums. After he joined the game, he had an obsession with soloing Bosses and stages.
It could be said that one tenth of all the challenge stages’ records were set by him. No one else could repeat what he did.
He also competed in the Olympics and won gold medals for the individual PK category and Bandit category. He was known as the most mysterious and fiercest player.
Once, he had set a notable feat by challenging an entire guild alone. The large guild consisted of more than one hundred thousand members, yet they had no way to take him down. Instead, the high-ranking members of the guild were constantly hunted down. You could say that he had killed so much that he was numbed by it.
The guild was eventually disbanded. In the midst of his prowess, the Battle of the Apotheosis arrived. With one fell swoop, he became the most formidable and feared player amongst the three Apotheosized Bandits
Although there were three Bandits that had successfully apotheosized, when people mentioned Apotheosized Bandit it was always about one person only, and that person was ShadowDancer.
Now, looking at ShadowDancer who was scratching his head and staring at him with admiration and shyness, Li Yao felt weird. But then, the thought that the future Apotheosized Bandit was now worshipping him made his heart flutter.
He pretended to not care much and added ShadowDancer into the squad. “Tong has told you about the rules, so I won’t repeat it. Do not suddenly change your mind at the later stages.”
ShadowDancer smiled ecstatically and hurried said, “No, no, I do not need anything. I just want to follow you and learn some techniques and skills.”
“Okay, no problem,” Li Yao patted him on the shoulder. “I can’t say much but I do have some skills. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me.”
“Thank you so much, thank you so much!” ShadowDancer was thrilled.
Fengyi gave Li Yao a look of astonishment, she did not ask much. “Are you really sure that we’re going to clear the Level 10 stage area on the right side?”
For this livestream stage clearance contest, the left corridor was a Level 5 stage whereas the one on the right was Level 10. On the right corridor, the mobs were Elites ranging from Level 10 to 12.
“Since Getaway Studios is trying to embarrass me out in the open, I might as well let them have the chance to do it now. They are trying to clear the low-level stage on the left, so we will clear out the higher-level one on the right. Be rest assured, I wouldn’t do anything that I’m not capable of.” Li Yao reassured them.

“This is going to be so exciting!” AdorkableTong clenched her fists as she danced around happily.
ShadowDancer, on the other hand, stared at Li Yao admiringly, “He really is a god, such dominance…”
Fengyi was speechless, the mobs on the right were Level 10 Elites, they were more than five levels higher than their current levels. She witnessed other squads being slaughtered by Level 5 Elites and hoped that the other two squad members would try to persuade him. She did not expect that this would be the result.
“Are you completely sure? If you are, I will start my livestream broadcast now.” Fengyi asked again.
Light flashed in Li Yao’s eyes, “It is an undeniable fact that Hunters cause less damage than other classes. But today, I’m going to show other Hunter players what it means to be qualified as a real Hunter. Hunters do not just rely on their damage output…”
