Chapter 21: The Troll Priest
EndlessFantasy Translation
Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation
Li Yao watched as the members of Shengshi Guild retreated to the city. He felt a sense of pity, he did not have many Explosive Sheep left.
As BeastWhisperer had predicted, the jungle served as both a protection and limitation to Li Yao.
Shaded by dense trees and shrubs, it would be hard for him to find a good angle for long-range attacks. The chances of getting a perfect angle were very minimal.
Especially when they figured that out, they had found themselves good covers. Hence, he could not do much. If he were surrounded, he could have been overwhelmed by their heavy fires if they got a hold of the situation, even if his level was higher.
‘I have to speed up, my progress is still not enough. Doesn’t matter if it’s dangerous, I have to get that item at Level 5. It’s worth the risk.’ Li Yao frowned as he made the decision. He had decided to go for a riskier plan, but first he had to get his hands on a copper mine. The mine was the foundation of his plans, without it, his plans would be in vain.
His engineering progress could no longer go up any further. Even if he had gotten new blueprints, he did not have the required metals to create the items. Now that he thought about it, there was a lot going on.
“Is this Jiajia? The members from Shengshi have left, all of you can level-up in peace now.” Li Yao sent a private message with his StarFire identity.
“Thank you, you really are my brother’s friend. Next time, I’ll invite you over for dinner.” Li Jia said excitedly.
“Yes, we will have the chance.” Li Yao looked around. It was already dusk in the game. “So, that’s it?”
“Uhm.” Li Jia replied shyly. “Actually, my friend, LilRainDrop has a task. She needs to defeat a Boss. I was wondering if you could help us out. It’s fine if you’re busy.”
Hearing his little sister’s request, Li Yao’s lips formed into a smile. There was no way he could reject her request. It was his sister, whatever help she needed he would find the time to help out even if he was busy.
“Defeat Boss, okay. But first, let me make things clear. I don’t care about the task rewards, but if the item belongs to the Hunter class, it will be mine. You can pass the message on to them. If they agree, I will join. If the answer is no, forget about it.”
This was his rule if someone needed his help. If he did not bring up his terms, others would find it suspicious.
On the other side, Li Jia told the others about his terms. DragonOfFourSeas’s face turned gloomy, he was also a Hunter. If Li Yao were to get all of the hunter loot, what was he going to get?
“Who does he think he is? What right does he have to make such terms? We from Qionghua Club are not short of anything, not even expert players.” Dragon said discontentedly.
Li Jia’s best friend, LilRainDrop, whispered, “Qionghua’s President, Xue Mei, and her team were wiped out by the Boss.”
The colour in Dragon’s face changed. “Yeah, even President Xue Mei failed, and what about him? You think Xue Mei is less capable than StarFire?”
“There is nothing to feel embarrassed about having weaker skills that others. You can still learn and try to catch up with them. But if you are a coward who can’t accept the truth and see yourself clearly, you’re your biggest problem.” TwinkleBeauty replied blandly.
DragonOfFourSeas was red with embarrassment. He came here to help out because he liked Twinkle. Besides, there were rumors saying Twinkle had more authority when giving orders than the club’s manager and president. This was the other reason why he liked her.
The words from Twinkle had obviously portrayed her dissatisfaction. But Dragon pretended to not understand what she said. He dared not refute her words so he went quiet.
“He has the rights to make the terms,” she continued. “From the news earlier, StarFire has wiped out the entire Shengshi squad. Some of the unfortunate ones had dropped from Level 4 to Level 1. Moreover, one of the team captains was BeastWhisperer.”
“BeastWhisperer’s squad was overwhelmed, this…” Dragon did not dare to rebut again. He was originally from Shengshi Guild, so he was familiar with Beast’s position in the club. Although he was not the president, but his orders had more authority than the president’s. He commanded squads, helped in directing guild wars, and planned strategies for team battles. He was the mastermind behind the scene.
“Dragon, if you think that it’s a loss for you, you can go ahead and level up. Shengshi is no longer a threat anyways.” TwinkleBeauty said. Qionghua valued pride very much. They had to work hard to further improve themselves, they could no longer rely on others when faced with danger.
“No, no. It’s okay, I don’t need the gear.” Dragon would never leave them. It was not easy for him to deceive Twinkle’s little sister, which was LilRainDrop. He made her look for him when she got herself into trouble, or else he would not have the chance to train next to TwinkleBeauty.
“Jiajia, you can invite your brother’s friend over to group up. Tell him we have agreed to his terms, and we will let him be the leader,” said TwinkleBeauty.
“Alright.” Li Jia contacted Li Yao again.
Ten minutes later, Li Yao had teamed up with the bunch.
LilRainDrop pointed to a small campfire in a distance. “The one sitting by the campfire is the target for my task. It’s a Level 4 Boss, incredibly hard to kill.”
Li Yao turned his attention to the Troll barbecue-ing by the campfire. A smile formed at the edge of his lips.
The enimosity between High Elves and Trolls could be traced back to ancient times. Long ago, the Troll Empire defeated the Insectoid Empire and began to rule most of the lands.
Elves were once together as one. Strictly speaking, they were closely related to Trolls. They were called Dark Trolls, but they lived by the Well of Eternity.
The well was created and left behind by the Gods of Creation, Titans. It was an energy arcane that constantly drew energy from the voids of outer realms to continuously nourish its beautiful continent.
The powerful fluctuation of the energy from the well had changed Dark Trolls. As time went by, they became different from Trolls. They were known as Children of the Stars, which meant Night Elves.
Then, Elves defeated the Troll Empire and became the ruler of the world. After a long time, an unprecedented war erupted, splitting the Elves apart.
High Elves were then exiled. They came to the Eastern Continent and began rebuilding their civilization, while Forest Trolls lingered in this area.
Even so, this was not something a High elf could easily face. For survival, High Elves had made an alliance with Humans to fight and defeat Trolls.
This helped to form the Kaldorei Empire, with the creation of the Sunwell to protect the Empire. The Kingdom gradually solidified itself, constantly taking away Troll’s lands.
Thousands of years had passed. Both clans no longer raged wars, but they still had some constant conflicts and disputes.
LilRainDrop was tasked to defeat a low-level priest, Scargil, that had entered the High Elven’s territory.
“My guess is you guys have tried to defeat him once. Tell me about the boss’s skills and what happened.” Li Yao knew the boss’s info long ago.
In his previous life, the Boss was very famous. He was ranked top ten as the most vicious beginner killers. His title was indeed terrifying. Players who leveled up or completed tasks in this area that were unlucky to encounter him would meet with a terrible fate.
Furthermore, this Boss was too difficult to be defeated. It was a beginner’s complete nightmare. Besides, the attributes of wild bosses would increase when surrounded by more players, making it even more horrifying. Even an army would be useless.
Because of the gears dropped by the Boss, he was constantly sought after by players years later in the game. He was refreshed every week and was killed in less than a day.
“Let me tell you. Yesterday, members of Qionghua tried three times. The most successful try was when we had cleared up 60% of his health before we were slaughtered. In the first 50% of his health, he will summon two Cobras every ten seconds. His attack is Lightning Bolt, which can be resisted. Once his health has gone below 50%, he will turn into a humongous Cobra. It will spit Poisonous Gas and Poison Mist which are deadly.”
“Have you tried using Beginner’s Antidote?” Li Yao asked.
DragonOfFourSeas could not hold back any longer. “Do you think that we have not thought of that? If the antidote worked, we would have settled this by ourselves.”
“If you can settle this on your own, why look for me?” Li Yao replied blandly. He turned away and said strictly, “Now, I’m the leader. If you want to defeat the Boss, you have to follow my commands. You can provide suggestions, but not crap when I did not ask for it. If you’re unwilling to follow my lead, I’ll quit.”
“Dragon, this is your last warning, there is no next time. Do not forget Qionghua’s rules.” TwinkleBeauty said sternly and glared at her sister. She was silly for believing in whatever other people said. She was the boss of Qionghua and they were lacking manpower. She thought that there was no need for them to waste the guild’s resources. Deep down, she started to despise Dragon for using her sister for whatever reason. Whatever reason it was, she would not like to find out.
“No more next time, I promise.”
“Good, this is what a club is supposed to look like.” Li Yao sighed, “You should get another healer in the team.”
“If we add one more healer, we will become a squad. The boss’s health will become higher.” LilRainDrop muttered.
“It’s only a small squad with five players. How are we going to fight with only four people?” Li Yao asked.
Dragon coughed lightly. “If we need to defeat the Boss, I suggest that GoodDreamJia quit the squad. She can join back after we have downed the Boss.”
“Then, I shall quit the squad for the better good.” Li Jia whispered. There was obviously disappointment in her tone.
“I came here on behalf of Li Jia’s brother. If Li Jia quits the squad, why should I help you guys?” Li Yao scoffed coldly. “Although we are both Hunters, I still doubt your usefulness in all this.”
“You are doubting me? I’m an expert player.” Dragon was enraged.
“What’s the big deal about being an expert? If you’re upset, we can compare our damage output or have a PK. You decide,” snickered Li Yao. He was just a class expert who was not serious about completing tasks and was here just to flirt. He was here as an underling and he did not even know that the person he wanted to flirt with was the boss. He was truly at another level of daftness
DragonOfFourSeas was furious and wanted to agree to a duel with Li Yao, but he understood that he would leave a bad impression on TwinkleBeauty. If he really had a duel, he was not match for him. Li Yao had wiped out an entire squad, who knew if he had other tricks up his sleeves.
“Dragon, you should join the second regiment next time. I won’t tell Xue Mei.” Twinkle was also mad, but she would not show her anger in front of others. He turned to Li Yao, “I have called upon a Holy Paladin who knows two healing skills and a Blessing of Kings skill. She’s stronger than a priest, what do you think?”
Dragon’s face had turned pale. Deep inside, his hatred toward Li Yao that was bottled up had almost reached its limits.
“That’s good.” Li Yao led the squad to look around and found a small valley entrance. “In a while, you guys will wait for me here. I’ll lure the boss over here.”
“Why did you choose this place, what’s so special about it?” They were all curious, the place was empty and not much different from the hillside they had been on.
“You will find out later.”
Once the female Holy Paladin, BlueDreamer, had arrived, Li Yao waved his hands and ran toward the Boss.
Li Yao stopped after he was almost a hundred fifty yards away. He changed into his Heavy Crossbow and reloaded with a Steel Arrow.
Then, he slowly aimed at the Troll who was having his dinner. After taking aim, he pulled the trigger gently.
Buzz…
The arrow flew with a whistling sound and pierced into the back of Scargil’s heart.

A high amount of damage points appeared above him.
The Troll Priest got back on his feet and saw Li Yao, he let out an angry roar, “Damn you elves, you’re going to die.”
Li Yao put the Heavy Crossbow back into his backpack and began running…
