Chapter 100: Chapter 100: Conflict
“Stop looking and come back directly, it seems we’re really in trouble this time,” Li Yao said in the team voice chat.
“What, the Light Faction’s players are targeting the outpost?” Guardian Angel asked.
“It seems so. Those three thieves claimed to be attacking the enemy faction secretly, but in reality, some guilds are clearing the place.”
Li Yao was all too familiar with these tactics of big guilds. When they were certain of being live-streamed, they wouldn’t openly kill lone players, as it would invite resentment and potential vendettas.
So, they usually allowed some thieves to leave the guild and clear the target area, reducing the chances of unexpected incidents.
In previous games, many freelance players didn’t fear large guilds and would seize an opportunity during the guild’s events. Although they mostly failed, there were many successes, tarnishing the guild’s reputation on live-stream.
Such instances weren’t rare, including the ones where victimized freelancers united to sabotage a guild’s event, causing public humiliation for that guild.
Therefore, a tradition was formed: factions covertly cleared the area, and if that didn’t suffice, they drove people away with force.
This tradition of large guilds was also implemented in this game. Li Yao had a vague feeling when he saw the third Tool Thief appear.
“This time three major guilds of the alliance, Sixth Dimension, Wings of Death, and Holy Fire, have launched a joint operation. They’re clearing the Silverpine Forest area. It seems we’ve really crossed paths this time,” said Zhao Lei with a wry smile, “Well, we’re in a fix now.”
“It seems they have received a guild mission, it’s likely a reward-heavy Military Exploit Mission,” Guardian Angel said.
“Hmm, even the Light Faction’s NPCs knows the importance of this outpost and are setting up guild missions. The Great Alchemist Association can’t possibly be oblivious to it, but the Queen only sent you, meaning the intelligence is indeed problematic,” Fruit Knight analyzed.
“They are not coming,” Li Yao frowned when the group of players who were initially approaching him suddenly turned away.
“Mainly because you killed those three thieves too neatly,” Fruit Knight said.
Li Yao didn’t respond, and soon they regrouped.
As expected, they believed that a small team was insufficient to deter Li Yao. Shortly after Li Yao’s team gathered, at least five small teams of players converged.
The leader turned out to be a hunter named Grim Grape. He sized up Li Yao, then scanned the rest of the team, his eyes revealing a touch of caution.
Grim Grape smiled and said, “Brothers, today our guild is on a mission. Please give us face and leave this place.”
Li Yao smiled, “Though we’re on opposing sides, I don’t want to make enemies without any benefits. Unfortunately, I’m sorry but my mission also happens to be here.”
The smile on Grim Grape’s face faded, and he said seriously, “Buddy, let’s not joke around. I was born without a sense of humor.”
“Then we might really become friends, because I also lack a sense of humor and don’t make jokes,” Li Yao replied sincerely.
“So are you saying you’re not giving us face?”
As Grim Grape spoke, the players behind him immediately drew their weapons, ready to strike at any moment.
“I’m sorry too, but this is a high-stakes professional mission. If you were me, would you abandon it?” Li Yao asked back.
“I’d like to help you, but this martial mission, it isn’t just our Holy Fire guild’s business. I can’t decide alone. I suggest you leave for the best. Don’t forget, you’re a player of the Dark Camp. If my brothers kill you, you can’t complete your mission anyway. Why bother? Leave and avoid breaking the friendly atmosphere, how about it?” Grim Grape seemed to be wary of something.
Although his face was incredibly gloomy, he never gave the order to attack.
“Well, let’s give it a try and see how you’re going to kill me,” Li Yao whistled.
A resonant bird call echoed in the sky, and a fiery figure appeared in the air.
The Prairie Fire hawk circled above Li Yao. Its body was burning with illusory fire, and its crystal-clear feathers had a metallic texture. Its appearance was absolutely stunning and incredibly cool.
“Prairie Fire,” Grim Grape frowned. He was well aware of Prairie Fire using a mighty mount to slaughter the elite group of Other Side Flower, and how it
snot to level ten Instantly.
“If you want to fight, hurry up and start,” Li Yao jerked his chin, “Although killing you guys isn’t difficult, I don’t want the live-streamer to show up. Being live-streamed won’t be good.”
“Arrogant.” Dark Grape muttered. Even so, aware of the reputations of both individuals, he realised he had to proceed with caution.
While Prairie Fire wasn’t too renowned among regular gamers, the major guilds were well aware of him. There were already two powerful forces that he had reduced to a dishevelled state.
“Let’s see who’s arrogant.” An excited twinkle shone in Fruit Knight’s eyes.
“Dude, you got a hard job.” Zhao Lei patted Guardian Angel’s shoulder sympathetically.
Guardian Angel heaved a melodramatic sigh while he rubbed his forehead, but he wasn’t really relaxed. He prepared himself for an imminent fight.
“Such a lively place, is this Prairie Fire? I’ve heard so much about you.” A feminine voice echoed through the air.
Her soft voice, laced with femininity, was pleasing to the ear.
Dark Grape’s expression shifted, immediately transformed into a smile.
Li Yao frowned slightly. He’d intended to keep a low profile under the name
Prairie Fire, grow his wealth quietly and earn his glory under the ID ‘Spark of Stars.’ But due to unforeseen circumstances, Prairie Fire was now almost as notorious as Spark of Stars.
However, the minor fame didn’t matter for now. He also did not want to have anything to do with famous live-streamers or commentators.
So, Li Yao merely nodded at Xiao Ze in the distance and ignored her afterwards.
“Aren’t we here for the guild activities? We’re afraid it might affect Sister Ze’s streaming effect, so we’re discussing with the bros whether we should give up our spot.” Dark Grape replied, wearing a smirk.
In Xiao Ze’s livestream, the viewers were raging. Xiao Ze was their goddess. When she personally greeted someone who then ignored her, not even uttering a single word in response, they were seething.
“What the hell, he’s so arrogant when the head of the large guild is trying to be friendly.”
“Does he think by playing hard to get he can attract Xiao Ze? Dream on.” “What an obnoxious prick, he certainly doesn’t respect Sister Ze.” “Screw him, people like him should be kicked out of major guilds.”
“What are you waiting for? Crush this guy.”
The spectators in Xiao Ze’s livestream were worked up.
Xiao Ze ignored those comments. Neither was she concerned by Li Yao’s indifference. As the most successful female commentator in China, she had long mastered the art of remaining unperturbed by praise or criticism. “Is a fight going to break out? You don’t mind if I broadcast it, right?”
“Not at all, not at all, Sister Ze. Feel free.’
“Yeah, we don’t mind.”
The followers of Dark Grape quickly responded. It was a joke. Who would refuse the chance to appear on camera and be seen by innumerable viewers? This was an opportunity for fame.
“I mind,” Li Yao stated seriously, “I prefer not to appear on camera if it’s not necessary.”

“You are too arrogant.” Dark Grape accused Li Yao before turning to Xiao Ze.
“We’re negotiating with Prairie Fire to PK. If he loses, he’ll leave.”
“Bullshit! When did my bro agree to PK with you?” Zhao Lei mocked, “You overestimate yourself. Stating you want to PK with my brother, **** off!” Dark Grape’s expression changed instantly, and his smile froze…
