Chapter 10: If I Were a Giant, I Would Be Braver Than Him!
Atlas Studios Editor: Atlas Studios
Experimental High School in Nan Yuan was one of the better schools. Teachers earned above average salaries and most of them owned houses in the local area.
Except for An Ya, who lived entirely in the dormitory, the other teachers only used the dormitory as a place to rest at noon or give students extra lessons after school.
After making sure that there was no one over at the teachers’ dormitory, Du Gang decided to stay in.
He only had two minutes left in his transformation time, and black beetles had once again burrowed out of the spatial channels.
There were still more than three hours before the transformation time limit reset at midnight, so he couldn’t possibly risk going out again.
So after quietly informing everyone, the entire dormitory building went dead silent.
The girls’ dormitory building next door, on the contrary, had always been quiet. Although they also saw Du Gang’s bravery and strength, no one dared to speak loudly since he wasn’t located in their building, so they didn’t have the same sense of security.
Especially when the insects crawled out of the spatial channels again, the girls’ dormitory became even quieter.

One o’clock in the morning.
More than four hours had passed, and before 12 a.m., Du Gang had counted 38 insects coming out of the spatial channels. By now, there were already 50 to 60 of them.
The good news was that the sense of smell of these insects wasn’t as strong as expected. The insects didn’t manage to smell the scent of “food” in the dormitory from the sports ground.
Meanwhile, they scattered in all directions after being attracted by screams, car crashes, explosions, and gunfire from all over the city.
On the contrary, the bad news was that a few of the insects passed by the dormitory buildings, sniffed out the “food” upstairs, and came to a halt.
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
The insects constantly slammed the door on the first floor and attracted by the clamors, another 10 or so insects that hadn’t gone far turned back. Likewise, they realized that their “food” was upstairs and had gathered at one spot.
Fortunately, the dormitory door wasn’t too wide, so it could only be rammed into by one insect at a time. Otherwise, it would have been knocked wide open by now.
However, the violent slamming of the door sounded as if one’s mind was being pounded by a large, pressurizing boulder.
The young men who had returned to their respective dorms gathered near room 601 yet again.
Only the powerful Du Gang could give them a sense of security!
Looking at the expectant eyes of the crowd, Du Gang puckered his brows.
His transformation time had restored, but didn’t stack as he expected. It was still 10 minutes at maximum.
There were more than a dozen insects at the bottom. If he wasted no time during his transformation, it would almost be enough to slaughter them all.
But again, it was only 1 a.m. and there were still 23 hours until the next day, when the transformation time would then be restored.
Although there weren’t many insects coming out of the spatial channels each time, nearly 50 of them had gathered in the past three hours.
Who knew how much longer the spatial channels would last, and whether it would remain permanently.
If he were alone, he was confident that he could survive. But now, here in the boys’ dormitory alone, there were more than 20 people, and everyone looked at him as if he were a savior. He just couldn’t bear to abandon them and escape alone.
Take one step at a time and see what happens! Du Gang thought. He didn’t know whether he could guarantee to not give up this group of people when true danger occurred, but right now, it wasn’t to that extent yet.
At this thought. he said, “Everyone, come downstairs with me!”
“Downstairs?”
All the students panicked and looked at Du Gang in fear, not understanding what he meant by that.
One of the young men said somewhat anxiously: “I don’t have an ability like yours. I’m not going down. Those insects are too scary…”
The others immediately echoed: “That’s right. You can transform, but we can’t…”
They believed that Du Gang was trying to get them to fight together.
Upon hearing these words, Du Gang felt a cold chill in his heart, as well as some displeasure. However, even though An Ya and Ma Li were equally fearful, they looked at him with an unwavering gaze, and it instantly made him feel relieved. Du Gang answered: “I’m not asking you to fight with the insects. You guys just need to go down with me and move some stuff to block the entrance!”
With that said, Du Gang led the way toward the first floor, while the others consciously made way for him and didn’t move an inch.
Walking down the stairs, Du Gang knew that the others didn’t move through the absence of the sound of footsteps. He looked back at them and snorted: “You guys just leave me to do all the work while you stand there doing nothing? Let me tell you; I saved you guys for old time’s sake and out of kindness. I can simply escape through the window and leave you to your own demise… So you’d better think this through!”
After speaking his mind, he didn’t care whether the rest followed him or not as he continued to head downstairs.
Sure enough, as soon as he said those words, An Ya and Ma Li were the first to follow him.
The others exchanged looks with one another, and some of them went down the stairs sporadically.
However, there were still six students who stood quietly and indifferently.
“A dozen people have already gone down. The door is that small, so there should be enough manpower!”
“Yeah, we may even obstruct them if we go down!”
The six students comforted one another, looking for excuses to convince themselves not to go down.
Among the six students, three of them were Du Gang’s classmates.
Not only that, but while the other students went down the stairs of the third floor, the health committee representative, Ma Haibin, who had a decent relationship with Du Gang before, softly said: “Who knows? Maybe it was Du Gang who brought those insects back. We are just ordinary people, and he’s the only one who can transform. Don’t you guys think that he is the problem?”
The others remained silent as they were a little frightened and didn’t dare answer him.
Ma Haibin saw that no one agreed with him and became rather worried. He induced: “Unless all of us can transform into giants…”
After he saw some changes in the crowd’s expression, he continued, “If we all become giants, not to mention blocking the door, I am even willing to fight those insects! What do you say?!”
With these words, the crowd’s desire for power was successfully aroused. They echoed one after another.
“If I become a giant, I would dare to fight with those insects too!”
“That’s right. If I were a giant, I would be braver than him…”

Upon reaching the first floor, Du Gang didn’t rush to make a move, but turned back and waited for everyone to arrive, and said: “Ma Li, count the number of people here and use your phone to note down the names of those who came down with me!”
At that moment, power was the right to speech. No one dared to question Du Gang, and they didn’t even dare to say a word.
They told their names to Ma Li one by one and felt pleased.
Although they didn’t know what Du Gang planned to do, they were certainly in safer hands than those who didn’t come down with them!
Some of them even vaguely suspected that Du Gang might abandon the ones upstairs.
