Chapter 2250 – Yun and Changkong

Within the Lin Clan council hall stood the ancestral plaques. They didn’t move a single inch, remaining deathly silent within the shadows. The hall was furnished with rows of old, wooden chairs. Only two people were within, seated rather closely together.

The one on the left was a man of advanced age, dressed in a green robe with graying green hair. He was tall and slender, like an ancient pine tree. Being an astral god, every single part of his body still shone with starlight despite his age. He was called Lin Yun and was the previous master of the third branch and the father of Lin Xiaoyun. Despite being the father of the current branch master, he was still younger than Lin Xiao. The green glow in his eyes was still rather bright.

Opposite him was a man in gold robes. He was about Lin Jie’s age, being in the latter half of his prime and the strongest phase of his life. He had gold hair and golden eyes. Even his skin shone with a golden glow, making it seem like he was covered in a layer of glitter. His body as a whole looked like a galaxy of golden stars. The blazing sword intent and sword ki around his body made it so that normal people wouldn’t dare to approach him.

He was Lin Changkong, former master of the ninth branch and a current member of the council. He was the person with the highest status in the Prime Myriadsword Corporation: the president, making him one of the key pillars of the Swordgod Lin Clan, like Lin Jie. He and Lin Jie were the youngest members in the council. He was the father of Lin Lingxiao and Lin Linglin.

The two of them chatted as they watched more than three hundred projections from the Oldgod Domain in the dark hall. Most of the time, Lin Yun was the one directing the conversation. He was much younger than Lin Changkong and much lower in terms of seniority.

“Jianxing and Linglin get along rather well. They’re both youngsters, so they probably have a lot to talk about. That child barely says anything to a grandpa like me,” Lin Yun said, smiling as he stroked his grayish-green beard. Lin Jianxing was the eldest son of Lin Xiaoyun’s older brother. Like Lin Jianjia, he was also Lin Yun’s grandson.

“Yeah, they do get along well,” Lin Changkong said almost perfunctorily.

Lin Yun wasn’t surprised by his attitude, nor did he mind it in the least. “They’ve investigated the green skeleton for months and it turns out that there’s been no record of something like that in history.”

“Didn’t someone say that Yi Daiyan also encountered something like that when she was fighting for a place in the minor reges mundi ranking? Well, not that it turned out to be anything special back then.”

“Oh? Did that really happen? Hahaha… when Jianxing and Linglin come back, we should study the skeleton ourselves.”

“Yes.” Lin Changkong had thought that Lin Jianxing would monopolize the skeleton, so was surprised when he gave it to Lin Linglin for safekeeping instead. It was clear from his actions that he cared for her. Young folk weren’t usually so subtle. He was well aware that the third branch was trying to curry favor with him, as his stance would be crucial in the oncoming negotiations with the ebons.

He looked at a projection from another Oldgod Ring and said, “Do you see that? Lin Feng seemed to have learned that Linglin has the third skeleton. He actually has such an impressive surveillance ability, though it’s really hard to see how he actually achieved it from the projection.”

“Lin Mu’s son is growing more and more mysterious. Some of his techniques are truly odd and rare,” Lin Yun said, squinting uncertainly.

Eventually, they heard Lin Lele and Tianming’s conversation. At first, their minds blanked out, but they soon broke into uncontrollable laughter.

“He’s trying to lure the tiger from the mountain? What a ballsy move,” Lin Yun said.

“That brat thinks my Linglin is a pushover?” Lin Changkong shook his head.

“It’s one thing if he’s arrogant, but his behavior shows that he’s truly his father’s spawn. He’d stoop to stealing from people on his own side like his thief of a dad!” Lin Yun sighed. His tone and cadence were actually quite similar to his son’s.

Just then, a few other elite members of the clan entered the hall, one of whom was Lin Xiong, Lin Lele’s father.

“So you came,” Lin Changkong said.

“I did indeed.” Lin Xiong’s huge body caused the wooden chair he sat on to creak.

“Perfect timing. Something’s about to go down,” Lin Yun said.

“Let’s watch, then,” Lin Xiong said with a shrug. The door shut once more, stopping the light outside from illuminating the dark hall.

……

“Everything’s ready! Now go!” Tianming sent Meow Meow out alone. The others were inside his lifebound space.

“A true warrior never turns back! Cat Bro, see you in the next life!” Ying Huo said.

“No way!”

……

Within a dark passageway, nothing but the sound of cold droplets falling to the ground could be heard. Layers of frost formed over the ground. Lin Jianxing gentlemanly held Lin Linglin’s hand, helping her across the slippery surface.

“Ah!” She slipped, and Lin Jianxing’s arm quickly found its way around her waist. The two of them stared each other in the face. Her face was slightly flushed.

“I’m gonna puke! Can’t you guys fly? How can you even slip on something like this? Who’re you even trying to act this out for? When my boss was out courting, he’d never go about it in such a roundabout manner! He’d just tear off his pants and jump!” a sudden voice called out.

Lin Jianxing turned to look in the distance, only to see a black cat lying on a frozen boulder, scratching its head in puzzlement. He froze at the sight of that familiar feline.

The cat rubbed its eyes and suddenly jumped when it looked at Lin Jianxing again. “Wait! Aren’t you that bloke that crushed my boss’s balls? Ah!”

With a yelp, it moved its tail to shield its family jewels before turning to run. “My balls! Not my balls! Have mercy!”

Tianming wanted to puke at the sight of the cat’s terrible acting, though Lin Jianxing did fall for it hook, line, and sinker. He wanted to step on Tianming far too badly.

“That’s Lin Feng’s lifebound beast!” The moment he said that name, his sword ki spread out like a vast ocean.
