Chapter 652: Chapter 646: Arrival

However, it was after arriving here that they realized, when compared to the warships here, those docked at Death Star’s Harbor were as harmless as lambs in innocence. In front of them now were true battleships. Leaving aside their design, the enormous cannon ports exposed on their exteriors alone were enough to deem them as real weapons of war.

The small warship on which Finn Lewis was riding headed straight for the largest ship in the fleet. The closer they got, the more the striking disparity in their sizes became apparent. As they advanced, it was as if they were approaching an enormous entity. Its size was so huge that one could not gauge its full extent by merely looking up.

Only by comparing it with oneself could one comprehend its immense size. Accompanied by Dunn Monty and a young officer, Finn Lewis walked straight to the fleet command room.

“Welcome aboard, Your Highness!” was the harmonious greeting that echoed as Lewis set foot on this flagship spanning at least a thousand square meters. Excluding the humanoid robots stationed at some posts, everyone else performed the same gesture of dropping to one knee as those aboard the smaller ship did.

“Everyone, please rise.” Even though Finn Lewis had experienced grandeur and spectacle before, the sight before him was slightly overwhelming. Hastening his steps, he helped General Toby Yarrow, who was leading the salutation, to his feet while responding.

“Yes!” Everyone rose to their feet and most of them returned to their duties, leaving only a few folks around Lewis, including Toby Yarrow who’d led the salute.

“Your Highness, shall we proceed towards the Galactic Star region now?” Toby Yarrow asked, his face expressionless.

“Indeed, I appreciate your assistance, General Yarrow.” Lewis responded with a nod. He didn’t know these people well and decided not to indulge in chatter. If they didn’t initiate conversation with him, he didn’t know what he should say either.

Upon confirmation from Lewis, Toby Yarrow nodded and went directly to his command station. The entire warship’s control system started resonating with impending announcements alerting all inhabitants that the warship was soon to jump to light speed and urging everyone to be safe.

Meanwhile, Finn Lewis and Dunn Monty were escorted by a humanoid to two chairs inside the control room. They settled down while the command system didn’t even prompt everyone to fasten their seatbelts; it seemed the ship didn’t require them.

Finn Lewis silently observed everything before him. Had it not been for Zero, he would have only ever seen such scenes in movies. But now, it was all happening right in front of his eyes: everyone bustling with their tasks, seemingly having nothing else to do after receiving Lewis, as if this were their only mission.

Undoubtedly, the warships of the Supervisory Bureau were efficient. In a few minutes, the entire fleet jumped to light speed: a sudden flash of light passed before Lewis’s eyes and what showed up in front of him was a vast and intricate galaxy.

This galaxy had one giant sun. Lewis couldn’t gauge its size in comparison to the Sun, but within this planetary system were seven planets, one of which, though only the size of a planet, emitted a hot light which was distinct from the others.

Between the seven planets, there were intricate steel tracks connecting them. Gigantic space buildings floated amid the planets’ airspace, clearly signifying a planetary system but giving a sense of congestion. Yes, congestion!

The entire planetary system was filled with various man-made constructs. It seemed like all seven planets could support human life; green vegetation was visible on at least four or five of them. Likely, these planets were terraformed. What intrigued Lewis was the sun-like celestial body radiating light and heat.

“What is that?” he asked, pointing at the outermost one, the tiny sun radiating light and heat in the distance.

“Your Highness, that’s an artificial sun. Since the outermost planet is too far from the central sun to receive light and heat, a small artificial star was created. Even though it doesn’t emit light and heat as intensely as a real sun, it provides sufficient warmth due to its proximity.” Dunn Monty quickly climbed up to explain.

Artificial Sun… Lewis stared at the thing outside the window, although he didn’t know what level of technology was required for this, he was certain that it was beyond the reach of humans.

The ship moved rapidly towards the central part of the Galactic Star region. After thirty minutes, a humanoid stood in front of Finn Lewis and Dunn Monty, “Your Highness, it’s a pleasure to meet you. I am the lawyer dispatched by the Supervisory Bureau to assist Your Highness with the inheritance paperwork. You may call me Charles.” This humanoid, dressed in a formal suit, greeted Lewis enthusiastically and bowed as he spoke.

“Hello,” Lewis responded with a nod. “Your Highness, please follow me.” The humanoid immediately guided Lewis with a smile. Apparently, this was the official institution on this planet and the premises were vast, filled with myriad creatures, enabling Lewis to observe a good number of alien species.

While most inhabitants were humans, there were other extraterrestrial species around. For instance, the fierce aliens with green skin and small stature that Lewis had encountered earlier.

With a humanoid assisting Lewis, there’s not much he needed to worry about. What puzzled Lewis was the Supervisory Bureau’s attitude. Initially, he found his respectful reception by the Supervisory Bureau exhilarating, only to realize later that the kneeling seemed more of a ceremonial tradition.

To put it bluntly, there was a rule within the Supervisory Bureau that everybody should abide by, which was, to bow to him. But afterward, the Bureau’s personnel treated Lewis no differently than a stranger. Only when he was disembarking the warship did Toby Yarrow mention that he could contact the Supervisory Bureau should he encounter any danger or require their assistance.

Apart from that, no other instructions were given, which frustrated Lewis a bit. Clearly, it would have helped were they to provide a means of contact!

It seemed that Lewis’s royal status didn’t command too much importance at the Supervisory Bureau, unlike what Monty had suggested. If the royal family had the power to command the Supervisory Bureau, the royal family’s nine major clans wouldn’t fear them so much. There must be more to this scenario than what Lewis knew.

But when asked, Monty wouldn’t tell Lewis, or perhaps, Monty himself wasn’t quite sure. After all, according to Monty, he was once a mere soldier under the jurisdiction of the Supervisory Bureau.
